But still many people has confusion about what are the best exercises to start their fitness journey and achieve their goals. Probably this is the reason you read this blog post! Am I right?

Don’t worry. I can feel your problem as I’ve gone through the same issue back in 2020 during Covid-19 lock down.

I don’t have the desire to do any exercise to maintain my weight and as a result, I put on some weight. But after 2020, I strongly realize that “Health is Wealth”.

So to lose my extra pounds, from then I am continuously working on my health and I’ve also achieved my goal of 60 kg.

Today I thought of sharing my experience with you and it might be helpful for you as well.

But before that, let’s start with the basics. Do you know what are some other important aspects of weight loss besides exercise?

I think the answer is Yes, because in this world everyone gets information easily in just a single click.

But if you don’t know about it, try to remember the 3 step process:

  • First of all, have a balanced nutrition rich diet.
  •  Keep yourself hydrated with water and fruit juices.
  •  Have a good night sleep for 7-8 hours to rejuvenate yourself.

This 3 step process helps you to cross half way towards a healthy lifestyle.

Now I give you the list of my favorite exercises to help you lose love handles. Any guess?

P. S. – Wait for the end of the list because I’m going to tell you my story. Ha ha, I’m excited.

What are some of the effective exercises to help you for getting rid of love handles?

Here are some of my favorite exercises listed below from my weight loss experience to lose love handles easily—–

1. Side Plank :

To do this exercise properly, first of all, lie on your back on the mat. Then rotate your body to the left side and slowly lift your body and balance your body between your foot and left forearm.

Keep your body straight like a line and hold this position for 15 seconds and breathe normally. After that return to the starting position.

Then take rest for 20 seconds and then repeat it in the same way in the right side of the body and keeps changing the sides for an effective result.

Side Plank helps to lose love handles.

This exercise mainly focuses on your love handles and helps you to lose your stubborn fat.

2. Oblique Crunches :

For this exercise, lie on your right side, extend your right hand and place your left hand on the head.

Then keep your legs straight and with breathing in slowly raise your feet. Next while breathing out, bend your both knees and lift your shoulder off the floor.

Then with continued exhalation bring your legs closer to your abs and try to touch your left elbow with your left knee. Remember to make your body a squeezed V shape to lose love handles.

Then after doing it, complete your exhalation and start inhaling. With breathing in, keep your legs down and bring your whole body to the starting point.

Then take rest for 20 seconds and repeat it to your left side and keeps changing sides for 15 repetitions.

Oblique Crunches is an effective exercise to lose love handles.I think it’s going to be tough for beginners, but I tell you it’s worth it. Not only it helps in your weight loss, but with such continuous deep breathing you give so much oxygen to your body that you can’t even imagine.

And to give you a small reminder that oxygen is important for us and deep breathing is very much needed for our body to function properly.

3. Wood choppers :

Stand straight while keeping your feet and shoulder wide apart and hold a dumbbell with both hands. Then rotate your right shoulder and raise the dumbbell with your both hands.

Next do a half squat while rotating your left shoulder and bring the dumbbell to your left knees by performing it diagonally across to your body.

To reduce love handles, do wood choppers daily.

Breathe normally when you do this exercise. Repeat this while starting from your left side. Do it for 10 times and take rest for 20 seconds.

4. Leg Raises :

Lie on your back at first then place your both hands on the floor. Then start exhaling and raise your both legs in 90 degree with your back. At this point, complete your exhalation.

Leg raises exercise is very effective to lose love handles.

Then start inhaling and slowly keep lowering your both legs. Repeat this exercise 10 times. Take rest for 15 seconds.

5. Plank with Hip Dips :

Do a plank properly. Then rotate your hips and body to the right side almost touching the floor. After that return to your starting position as a plank and then repeat this to the left side.

Add Plank with hip dips in your routine to reduce love handles.

Then repeat it in both sides 10 times. Next take rest for 20 seconds. Breathe normally throughout the exercise. Again make a repetition of the exercise for better results.

Don’t give up:

You’re halfway through the exercise. Push yourself and think about your goal for better performance.

6. Seated Knee Tucks :

For this exercise, sit on the mat and keep both hands behind your back. Extend your legs and lean your whole body on your back. Then bring your knees towards your chest.

Seated knee tucks is very helpful in treating love handles.

Hold this position for 5 seconds and then extend both legs. Breathe out when you bring your knees towards chest and breathe in when keep your legs to the previous position. Take rest for 15 seconds and repeat it 10 times.

7. Reverse Crunches :

To do this exercise, lie on your back and with the inhalation, lift your both legs towards the ceiling. While lifting your legs, try to contract your lower ab muscles for 15 seconds.

Reverse crunches exercise to lose love handles.

Then relax your muscles by exhaling and put down your both legs. Take rest for 15 seconds and repeat it for 15 times.

8. Side Lunge with Twist :

For this exercise, perform a lunge to your right side and then twist your shoulder towards the bent knee. Hold this position for 15 seconds with normal breathing.

Perform side lunge with twist to lose love handles.

Then return to your standing position and take rest for 15 seconds. Repeat it to your left side. Perform this 10 times for effective results.

9. Standing Side Crunches :

To do it correctly, stand straight and keep your feet and shoulder wide apart. After that raise your left knee towards the left elbow with normal breathing.

Standing side crunches is giving amazing results to lose the stubborn love handles.

Then do it with right knee towards the right elbow. Do it 10 times on both sides. After that return to the previous position and take rest for 20 seconds. Then repeat this for 10 times.

10. Windshield Wipers :

Just like the name, it wipes away your stubborn fat from love handles. To do this, lie on your back. Then when you breathe in, lift up your both legs and rotate them from left side to right side and vice versa.

Windshield wipers is extremely powerful exercise to lose love handles.

Do it 5 times for both sides. After that keep your legs down when you breathe out. Take rest for 20 seconds and repeat it for 10 times.

My fitness journey :

So now, sharing my story of weight loss journey. I was skinny from childhood and for that my friends always laughed at me. And it somehow hurt me you know, as a child you’re not accepting your body and felt sad. I think every child had some or the other insecurity in them.

Now coming back to 2020, I’d put a lot of weight due to my own fault. But after seeing the huge number of patients died in the Covid-19, I somehow realized that if I don’t take proper care of my body, then after some time my body will stop helping me.

And then I decided to start my weight loss journey. At first, it’s hard for me because as a beginner I’ve so much confusion about how to start. But after researching and seeing many YouTube videos, I short listed some effective exercises and started my fitness journey.

After following the exercises for 21 days, I saw some differences in my belly area and you can imagine that how happy I was, as it indicated the beginning of my journey towards a healthy lifestyle.
